The village of Marchin is situated in the centre of the “Condroz” region, next to the Belgian Ardennes, known for its old castles, churches and farms, and its picturesque villages and landscapes.
Very nearby is the city of Huy, with its vibrant historic city center and lots of restaurants and shops and of course the impressive fortress, overlooking the “Meuse” river. Another interesting visit, at only a few minutes, is the beautifully restored Castle of Modave, built upon a steep cliff of 60 meters, dominating the valley of the Hoyoux. Its famous hydraulic wheel was used as the model for the water supply system in the gardens of the Versailles Palace.
Within a 20 minute drive one can visit the beautiful city of Durbuy, probably the most popular destination in the Ardennes. The city center is very well preserved, with most buildings dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, offering the perfect setting for a stroll along the many shops and restaurants. The near surroundings also offer plenty of possibilities for hiking, horseback riding and kayaking.
